Our school is staffed by specially trained Montessori teachers who have created a carefully arranged environment scaled physically and conceptually to children and sensitive to their needs for order and meaning. In the prepared environment, children may choose activities according to their diverse needs and desires.

“The Montessori teacher acts as the keeper of this prepared environment; she is not the focal point in the classroom. This is a distinction shared by her and the children, with the teacher serving as a link between the children and the prepared environment” – The Essential Montessori

Statement

I was born and raised in Yuba City, Calfornia, surrounded by orchards and fields. As a small town girl I explored the river bottoms, levees, hills, and mountains around my town. As a child I had a tremendous interest in the world around me and knew I wanted to explore beyond my small city.

Upon graduating high school I moved 3000 miles away to Cambridge, MA to attend Harvard University. I began studying Astronomy and Astrophysics. I spent two years in that course of study before making the decision to study Psychology. In 2009 I graduated with a BA in Psych and began working as a Behavioral Therapist. Over the last seven years I have worked as a Behavioral Therapist, Personal Trainer, and Teacher, learning and discovering more about myself and the world around me.

I am supremely passionate about people, children, learning and growing on a daily basis. I hope to pass on my love of learning and passion for life to all of those around me. I hope to be the candle that lights the flames of many.

Special interest include: gardening, reading, yoga, weight lifting, sports, nutrition, animals.

Statement

In a past life, I was a molecular biologist researching HIV at The Gladstone Institute on the campus of San Francisco General Hospital. I did basic research involving live virus and human immune cells. Now I am the mom to two sets of twins, 8 and 14 years of age. All of my children have attended Montessori schools. I have just finished my first year at Granite Bay Montessori teaching math and science to Upper Elementary and Middle School. I love being able to do hands on science projects with my students! The best science learning comes from actually doing something to see what happens.

In my spare time, I love to garden, raise sheep, play in my pond, and hang out with my family.
